The Voice of Universities

On August 22, 2023, Vladimír Hiadlovský will take up the position of President of the Slovak Rector's Conference, and the current SRC President Rudolf Kropil will begin fulfilling his mandate as SRC Vice president. Other members of the current SRC Presidium are Ferdinand Daňo, Tomáš Lengyelfalusy and Peter Šimko.

Rudolf Kropil, the current SRC President recapitulates his work: "During four challenging years, together with the rectors, we worked together on important changes that had the ambition of improving the quality of higher education, supporting research, innovation and art performed at universities. Although in some cases the opinions of SRC members diverged, I always tried to find a constructive consensus. I implemented my Presidential program in accordance with SRC's priorities "Modern Universities, Strong Management, University Identity", which were approved by SRC members until 2025. On this impressive journey, I was surrounded by great colleagues and dedicated employees, who are the essential pillar of success our activities. Their support, commitment and enthusiasm have inspired me immensely and have been the driving force behind our joint endeavours. With respect and gratitude, I am now handing over the position of SRC President to Vladimír Hiadlovský. I have the honor to continue my service to the Slovak academic milieu as SRC Vice-president and to participate in the work of the new SRC Presidium. I am convinced that the new SRC Presidium will continue to develop and strengthen our universities, and I will do everything to make it achieve even greater success."

Rudolf Kropil has been SRC member since 2012, when he was appointed by the President of the Slovak Republic as Rector of Technical University in Zvolen. In the years 2014 to 2018 and again from 2019 to 2023 he held the position of SRC President. The term of office of the SRC President is two years. It is possible to perform this function for a maximum of two consecutive terms of office.

Vladimír Hiadlovský has been SRC member since 2014,when he was appointed by the President of the Slovak Republic as Rector of Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica. On August 22, 2023, his first term as SRC President will begin.

Both representatives of the SRC also express their thanks to the Rectors who, in the course of the previous days and weeks, ended their term of office and thus also their SRC membership. In particular, they express their thanks to Rector Mária Heinzová, who worked at Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, Rector René Bílik from Trnava University in Trnava, Stanislav Kmeť from Technical University in Košice, and Pavol Sovák from P. J. Šafárik University in Košice.
