Slovak Rectors´ Conference President Dr. h. c. prof. Ing. Rudolf Kropil, PhD. has expressed in the name of the SRC members a condolence on passing of Dr. h. c. prof. JUDr. Peter Blaho, CSc. to his family as well as to the academic community of Trnava University in Trnava.
Professor Peter Blaho was a significant Slovak jurist and a university teacher, former Rector of the Trnava University in Trnava in 2000 - 2007 and a member of the Slovak Rectors´ Conference. He participated at the establisment of the Trnava University, the Faculty of Law of the TU in 1998, he was a dean of this faculty, too. At the Faculty of Law of the Comenius University in Bratislava he had been acting as a dean during two terms before. He belonged to the mostly significant juristic historians of the Roman law in Slovakia.
The Pope Ján Pavol II. awarded him in 2001 with the order "L'Ordine Equestre Pontificio di San Greogorio Magno". In 2004 the President of the Slovak Republic awarded him with a state order Pribinov kríž Ist class. Several universities awarded him a honorary title doctor honoris causa.
He has passed on 29 May 2018 at the age of 79 years.
Last farewell with professor Peter Blaho will take place in Bratislave on 2 June 2018 at 10.30 am in the Church at Uršulínska street and he will be burried at the cementary Slávičie údolie.
