The Voice of Universities

The 84th meeting of the Slovak Rectors´ Conference took place on 21 May 2018 at the Technical University in Zvolen. Slovak Rectors´ Conference is one of the representations of higher education institutions. 

Members of the Slovak Rectors´ Conference („SRC“) elected new SRC Presidium, which is an executive body and consists of SRC President and four SRC Vice-presidents.

The new SRC President will be in coming two-years term Professor Marek Šmid - Rector of the Trnava University, who was in previous two terms SRC Vice-president. New SRC Vice-presidents will be Professor Rudolf Kropil - Rector of the Technical University in Zvolen and current SRC President, who according to the SRC Statutes could not run anymore for the SRC President position, Professor Stanislav Stankoci – Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, Professor Pavol Sovák – Rector of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice and Professor Robert Redhammer - Rector of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. The term of the newly elected SRC Presidium will start on 5 June 2018. 

Professor Marek Šmid is an expert in the constitutional law, current member of the Legislative Board of the Slovak Government and former diplomat. During his membership in the SRC he was active in the HE legislation and international affairs. He has declared continuity in SRC activities, HE legislation and its implementation while holding to a principal of equal chances for all types of schools of HE with different orientations, agreement on stabilisation mechanisms of the EU Structural Funds use and closer international cooperation, as SRC priorities during his term.
