Short description

Academy of the Police Force in Bratislava (APZ) cares about the quality of education, support for students and teachers. It is a unique university in the Slovak Republic that provides education in the field of security science in two study programs – Security and Legal Protection of Persons and Property and Security and Legal Services in Public Administration. APZ provides unique education for the needs of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic, public administration entities and others.

Scientific research/artistic projects

Academy of the Police Force in Bratislava (APZ) is actively investing in research and development, that enables it to carry out various national and other projects, such as the National Project “Increasing Slovakia’s Resilience to Hybrid Threats through Strengthening the Capacities of Public Administration”, projects supported by The Slovak Research and Development Agency, FULL-PROOF, the Center of Excellence for Security Research, the GODIAC Project, the EUSEC II Project, THE HOUSE Project, the “Special Interview Rooms for Child Victims and Other Particularly Vulnerable Crime Victims” Project, the STRONG Project, the popAI Project, Bridge-101084355, the IN2PREV Erasmus+ KA220-ADU-EC004C7E Project, the project “Improving Victim´s Rights Protection – Strengthening Capacities and Procedures to Combat Violence against Women and Domestic Violence” and others.

International relations

Cooperation with FRONTEX is of great importance to the Academy of the Police Force in Bratislava (APZ), on the basis of which international conferences, training sessions, and mobility programmes are organized. APZ is a member of the Association of European Police Colleges (AEPC) and cooperates with MEPA, CEPOL, and OSCE. APZ was awarded the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) for the entire duration of the Erasmus+ 2021 – 2027 programme. Furthermore, APZ cooperates with significant universities both domestically and internationally. It also cooperates intensively with the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic, the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic, and other competent entities in order to link scientific knowledge with application practice, providing its teachers and students with opportunities to effectively develop their abilities, skills, and knowledge.

Our status as the only and unique university in the Slovak Republic is proof of a special position that allows us to build effective education and link scientific-research, theoretical knowledge and experience, particularly in the field of the Police Force and public administration. We offer our students not only high-quality education but also a unique opportunity to obtain higher education in the field of security sciences. Our university also provides partners and international students the opportunity to cooperate and expand their knowledge within two study programmes: security and legal protection of persons and property, and security and legal services in public administration, which represents an attractive connection of theory and application practice. The mission of the Academy of the Police Force in Bratislava is to prepare highly qualified and professionally competent experts for the units of the Police Force, specialized departments of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic, and other state and non-state security services.
