Short description

Historical Trnava University represents one of the oldest universities in Slovakia. Trnava University was established by Cardinal Peter Pázmaň in 1635. The National Council of the Slovak Republic re-established Trnava University (TRUNI) in 1992. TRUNI has five faculties: Faculty of Philosophy and Arts, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Health Care and Social Work, Faculty of Theology, Faculty of Law. TRUNI professes principles of the Great Charter of European Universities protecting complete independence of universities from the political and economic power and their freedom to perform research and education.

Scientific research/artistic projects

Trnava University (TRUNI) has worked on more than 20 foreign grants. The most notable grants in the field of education were the Horizon 2020 Empirical study of Literature Training Network project, focused on the development of children’s socio-emotional skills in the digital age. In the field of health sciences, these were the Horizon 2020 Scaling-Up Noncommunicable Diseases Interventions project, focused on verifying effective strategies for expanding evidence-based prevention and treatment programs for diabetes and hypertension, and the Horizon 2020 Prevention and Screening Innovation Project Towards Elimination of Cervical Cancer project, focused on more innovative and effective cervical cancer screening in women from marginalized groups by improving the quality and accessibility of health services. TRUNI is continuously working on projects from the ERASMUS+ grant schemes.

International relations

Internationalization in educational and research activities at the Trnava University (TRUNI) is implemented through bilateral agreements, international educational and scientific research projects and programs, participation of teachers and students in educational and scientific events abroad, involvement of experts

from abroad in the educational process, as well as through membership of the university and its employees in international organizations, councils and committees. TRUNI is a member of European University Alliance KreativEU. KreativEU is unique in its kind, offering a competitive and an attractive European education and research system, with students, researchers, academics and society, at large, cooperating within different cultures and across borders and academic disciplines. The common goal of KreativEU is the creative potential derived from Europe’s cultural heritage of its teaching, research and knowledge transfer activities (http://www.kreativeu.ipt.pt/).
