21 June 2018, SRC (updated 10 July 2018).

BRATISLAVA. Presidium of the Slovak Rectors´ Conference (SRC) supported the policy paper "Living up to the Significance of Universities for the Future of the EU. Proposals for Future EU Funding Programmes by the French, German and Polish Rectors´ Conferences (CPU, HRK, KRASP)" at its meeting on 21 June 2018 in Trnava. The policy paper was already supported by the Czech, Slovenian and Serbian Rectors´ Conferences.

In the paper the rectors´ conferences propose to implement the concept of “distributed excellence” in the future European framework programme for support of research and innovation and ESIF. They understand the initiative "European Universities Networks” as networks of universities based at the principle of excellence. They support the principle of "Territorial Connections" within the frame of regional innovation ecosystems. The proposal also emphasizes excellence as a principle of capacity building in less developed higher education systems.
